Phase II – Social Therapy at Suncoast Rehab

Phase II: Social Education Therapies designed to learn essential communication skills and restore the person’s self-control.

The Perception and Communication Course – A course of study and exercises that develop self-control, extroversion and the ability to maintain control of ones environment. Addicts use drugs to change the way they feel. Drugs tend to numb their perceptions and things that bothered them before seem to go away. But the emotions and, sometimes, physical sensations they are experiencing don’t actually change – only their perception of them changes while they are using drugs. When they stop taking the drugs, those feelings are still there. And often they’re worse than before. The person can have a hard time escaping from these feelings and tends to be stuck in past experiences and upsets. This makes it very hard to lead a happy and successful life. This course gets the client unstuck from the past and focusing on the present and the future in order to better control their life and environment.
