MEDICAL DIRECTOR – Dr. Brent Agin, MD
Our Medical Director, Dr. Agin, is board certified in Family Medicine. He attended Michigan State University for both undergraduate and medical school and was nominated Academic All-Big Ten while participating on the MSU Soccer Team. Experienced in counseling and detoxification for both illicit drugs and prescription medications, Dr. Agin is one of a very select group of physicians certified in buprenorphine therapy for both maintenance and rapid detox. His research in nutrition and vitamin therapy supports an important component of our rehabilitation program.
Dr. Agin is the founder of Trim [Nutrition] and is interested in the use of diet and nutrition to aid in disease prevention and treatment, drug detox, anti-aging, and sports performance enhancement. In private practice in Florida, he is recognized by the community as a go-to medical advisor in the field of Wellness Medicine and provides dietary and weight loss consulting nationally. His Trim supplements have assisted hundreds of clients in easing withdrawal symptoms and coming off drugs more comfortably and easily than without them.
REGISTERED NURSE – Margery (Margie) Spinoza
Margie graduated with a BSN from USF in 1983 and has worked in nursing for 30 years in Hernando County, Florida. Margie has worked in medical/surgery, telemetry & orthopedic units at Oak Hill Hospital; Springbrook Hospital in the psychiatric and rehab units; Hernando-Pasco Hospice and Home Care. Margie taught clinicals in nursing at Pasco-Hernando Community College and now brings her skill and education to Suncoast by developing Continuing Education materials and tools for our staff to ensure they are prepared to provide the best service to our clients.
Throughout her career, Margie became acutely aware of the growing prescription and illicit drug abuse problem in this County and in the State of Florida and wanted to be a part of the solution, supporting people who are working to get their lives and health back. She is an invaluable member of the Suncoast team and daily helps our clients regain their physical health and well-being.

CERTIFIED ADDICTIONS COUNSELOR – Janice Smith
Janice graduated Florida State University in 1980 with a B.S. in Criminology/Corrections. She went on to get her M.A.in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a Certified Addictions Counselor and Prevention Professional licensed by the State of Florida Certification Board.
Her years of experience as a therapist, mental health screener, substance abuse case manager, intervention and recreational therapist and addiction professional make Janice an asset to the Suncoast team.
Janice is the Chairperson of the Hernando County Anti-Drug Coalition and the Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program Coordinator.

PROGRAM MANAGER – Richard Taylor
Richard Taylor has 11 years’ experience in the drug rehabilitation field and has dedicated his work to the holistic approach used at Suncoast so that new drugs are not used to replace old drugs and that each client is given the individual program necessary to heal physically and mentally and with all the tools to live a happy, drug-free life.
He has over 20,000 hours working with addicts and is certified in drug-free withdrawal and drug detoxification. He has managed rehabilitation services as a counselor, supervisor, program & case manager and aftercare specialist.
Richard coordinates all aspects of a client’s treatment at Suncoast to ensure the highest quality of care and overall success for each client.
